The Slovene Music School Association consists of 53 public Slovene
music schools and 3 private music schools, which receive concessions
from the Ministry of Education, Science and Sport. Altogether, the
SMSA represents 56 music schools, which educate students and pupils
in music and ballet programs at basic and middle levels.
The Association undertakes to improve learning and working conditions
in the music schools to promote musical education in the country
and to mutually connect the schools. Experience is being exchanged
within the association and various projects are being planned.
The Slovene Music School Association is lead by an executive committee,
which is composed of 14 members from all regions in Slovenia. The
executive committee receives and leads the work plan of the Association.
The SMSA cooperates with; the European
Music School Association - EMU (SMSA has been a member since 1991)- http://www.musicschools-emu.net ,
the Ministry of Education, Science and Sport- http://www.mss.gov.si , the Ministry of Culture http://www.kultura.gov.si ,
the Office for Education of the Republic of Slovenia- http://www.zrss.si , the Academy
of Music in Ljubljana - http://www.ag.uni-lj.si and other high school establishments. Authorised
members of the association cooperate with; the Republic Council
for Musical Education, the Republic Council for System Changes in
Schools, the state commission for competitions TEMSIG - http://www.temsig.com and the Union
of Primary School Headmasters http://www.ravnatelj.si .
The SMSA also cooperates with Slovene music schools in foreign countries.
